Volunteer Spotlights

We appreciate all our volunteers! Volunteers allow us to continue building homes for families in need of affordable housing. Below are our some of the groups that have been with us so far this year.

Our build season started with a wonderful group of 52 volunteers from the University of Connecticut Honors Across State Borders program. They were here for a week and got so much accomplished to kick off our build season.

Broadfording Church had a Day of Service with Habitat in late April. The volunteers worked hard and made a difference in our community.

In May we hosted corporate volunteers Fed-Ex Ground and Citi employees, who must enjoy working with us because they are frequent return volunteers throughout the year. We appreciate every visit because they get so much done when they are onsite.

More than 20 individuals from around the country met in Pittsburgh in May and cycled over 330 miles to DC to raise awareness for affordable housing. As they traveled, they stopped here in Washington county to work with us. This is the 3rd time Bike & Build has added our county to their stop and we appreciate being added to their routes.

In June, the Street Envy Motorcycle Club rode from the DC area to work with our affiliate. These ladies spent the day in the ReStore doing a punch list of different tasks.

July has been heating up temperature-wise but that didn’t stop Sheehy and JLG from joining us onsite. Both groups helped us work both on a rehab and in the ReStore.

For more than 25 years, Immanuel Presbyterian Church has traveled to Washington County from McClean, VA to work with our affiliate. This summer that group came right as school ended in June and spent a week here working on our houses. We look forward to having them here again next year.
